Nyx enters the apartment. Rain streaks the enormous window overlooking thousands of neon advertisements below. Venn lies beside his desk. No obvious weapon. No fingerprints. No conventional DNA belonging to another person. His apartment's AI has deleted exactly 47 seconds of surveillance footage. Nyx crouches beside the body. Her Spectra Eye activates. Blue light ripples across her iris. "Forty-seven seconds." She looks toward the apartment's AI terminal. "That's an oddly specific amount of guilt." She scans the floor. Nothing. Then she notices something. A tiny smear of black conductive gel beneath the victim's fingernail. Nyx freezes. "Well... hello."
